This particular area of the exhibit is the exploration of the exhibit focuses on the gun violence and the streets with the new advent of increased gun violence. While the topic of over policing and police brutality is another point of focus. Using Drill artist such as Chief Keef, G Herbo, Freedo Santana, Vic Mensa, and Lil Durik among others are used. Finally, the overarching theme of death is seen in the urban crisis of Chicago. One of the lest talked about aspects of living in the streets is the overarching anxiety of death and living a pointless life. For all though Chance the Rapper is birthed in this time frame Drill brings a nihilistic and completely legitimately view of life and the reality of these artist. According to (Harkness 2013) some of these artists have to join gangs just to get their music distributed to which a relationship of gangs and artist is created that can be heard and how some of these artists describe their world.
Separated into sections such as Lake Shore “Drill” which allows someone unfamiliar with the style to be introduced to it. Next there is the focus of gangs and their relation gun violence separating the selling of drugs out of this. Look at maps that show murders, shootings and explore the crime rates of specific neighborhoods. Listen to the survival stories of these individuals.
