Welcome, and thank you for visiting this site I hope you enjoy this new take on the digital exhibit that has an emphasis on the audio and backed by the visual. Much like the relationship between music and music videos this exhibit can be experienced without the images but with them the experience is heightened to another level. The main idea of this exhibit is revealing the experience of the urban crisis in Chicago since the first Chicago Hip-Hop artist and rappers started making national waves in the business.

On this site, you will find songs, playlist, timelines, maps, videos, and pictures that have been curated to tell this history. Like history though some of themes are overlapping and some of the songs can be used in multiple themes and eras. For each of the three main sections I've chosen themes to focus on that best suits the songs and artist that came out of that era.

For further explanation of the setup of this site I encourage you to go to the “Track list” page under the “Intro” tab. Please feel free though to jump to sections that you find interesting, or peruse and skim until you find a topic or area you want to explore more.

Enjoy!
